Venerable Chi Chern (Chi Chern Fa Shi) — born in Malaysia. In 1978, he was ordained under Master Chuk Mor. Then he studied in Taiwan, first at Fo Kuang Shan, and later practiced Chan with Master Sheng Yen of Dharma Drum Mountain. He was named as one of Master Sheng Yen’s Dharma Heirs.
Upon return to Malaysia, Fa Shi practiced in a 1,000-day solitary retreat. After that, he began to take on many leadership roles in the Malaysian Buddhist community, and actively lead many meditation retreats. Starting from 1999, per requests, he began to teach Dharma and lead meditation retreats all over the world.
DDMBA-Chicago is so grateful to Chi Chern Fa Shi for donating many original pieces of his calligraphy and painting for our charity sale, to support our great vow of “Building Our New Home.” At the same time, Fa Shi hopes to use these artwork to connect with and spread Dharma to more people, so that they may also gain benefits from Buddhism and Chan.
